Dr. Ashley Varner joined ApolloMD in 2018 and currently serves as the National Medical Director of Hospital Medicine. Her primary focus includes directing operations, integrating hospital solutions to achieve required metrics and assisting with leadership at a local level.
As a distinguished hospitalist, she has been practicing at Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, GA since 2014, and is now the Assistant Medical Director of Hospital Medicine. She serves on multiple committees including Credentials Committee and Med Exec while also attending hospital focused groups including length of stay, medication reconciliation and thirty-day readmissions committee to name a few. Dr. Varner was Chief of Medicine at Piedmont from 2018-2020 and is currently Secretary Treasurer.
Dr. Varner’s excellence in medicine has been acknowledged with several awards, including the Physician of the Year by Columbus Regional and the Mercer University School of Medicine Recognition of Excellence. These accolades, earned early in her career, reveal her dedication and remarkable skill in the field of patient care.
Educationally, Dr. Varner’s journey began at Baylor University where she obtained a BBA, followed by UAG, and culminated at the New York Medical College. She is board certified in Family Medicine and completed her internship and residency at The Medical Center in Columbus, GA where she also served as chief resident.
